Protection or Defense?

Words affect how we think. Words have associations for us. We can use them to cue what we want for ourselves, and we can use them to cue thinking and action in others. Others can use words to cue thoughts, feelings, and actions in you.

Consider the word ‘Defense’. Defending against an attack implies one is being attacked. Think about what that means in your head.

Consider the word ‘Protection’. Protecting against an attack means the attack doesn’t affect you.

Assuming we want to get home safely, the less risky option is preferred. With respect to risk, would you rather protect yourself or defend yourself? Protection is obviously the way to go, and what does that look like in practice?
